How to Connect

    Register an account

    Your portal account is your game login. Names are permanent and case-sensitive.

    Install EverQuest from Steam

    Free to install. Do not launch it yet — it needs to be patched to the correct protocol.

    Patch to Rain of Fear 2

    Download the EQEmu Patcher, point it at your EQ folder, select RoF2. One-time step.

    Download our connection package

    Pre-configured eqhost.txt, 1080p/4K eqclient.ini, and a launcher.

    Extract into your EQ folder

    Copy all files into your EverQuest directory (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\EverQuest). Overwrite when prompted.

    Run play-soasam.bat and log in

    Use your registered account name and password. Characters are per-server, not shared.
